Coaching & Mentoring Program

Schools are experiencing challenges with teacher shortages and in need of support to new or inexperienced teachers. Cobalt Ed provides schools with solutions for professional training of educators with research-based models for effective instruction and assessment, moving students towards greater engagement and deeper learning. The coaching and mentoring services by Cobalt Ed works collaboratively with the school leadership to provide the ongoing professional development to new teachers and veteran teachers in need of implementing current best practices and evidence based instructional strategies. It is critical for schools to support their teachers with ongoing mentorship and teacher assistance, and performance feedback to ensure student academic achievement.

Cobalt Ed assists schools with teacher development through coaching and mentorship services. Most schools remove their most qualified and successful teachers out of the classroom to be coaches. Cobalt Ed encourages schools to identify their most talented teachers to be coaches and mentors while continuing to teach in their classrooms. The school leadership can identify the coaches and allow them to teach while mentoring other teachers through the use of the Cobalt Ed portal.

Cobalt Ed trains and supports the coaches to develop training videos on key areas of professional development integrating best practices, student engagement and competency-based instruction. Local, onsite teachers understand the educational challenges, culture and needs of the school and students, and are more effective than bringing outside coaches and mentors to support the instructional staff.

Teachers, paraprofessionals and interns can view the videos and schedule personal consultation times with the coaches to answer questions or to take a deeper dive into the training. The coaches can provide “office hours” to schedule follow up sessions for individuals or small groups of teachers. Building a professional community of teachers within the school is powerful.

Training can be provided via the topic area of need and followed up with scheduled face-to-face or webinar consultation sessions. Teachers can engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices.

Training topics may include:

  • Classroom Management
  • Differentiated Instruction
  • Effective Teaching Strategies
